A message from Councillor Damerla below.

If construction noise seems to be starting earlier and going later, you’re not imagining things. On April 7, 2020, the Provincial Government suspended the power of municipalities to enact by-laws regulating construction-related noise and replaced it with much longer construction times. Under the new laws construction is allowed 7 days a week, including holidays, from 6AM to 10PM!

No one imagined at that time that the pandemic would affect our lives for so long. Noise in neighbourhoods and residential areas has a significant negative effect on the lives and well-being of residents. Mental health has been another casualty of the pandemic and we must do more to protect the mental health of Ontarians.

Join me in calling on Doug Ford and the Provincial Government to repeal O.Reg. 131/20 and allow municipalities to protect our residents from unwanted construction noise!
